Job Hunt

 Hi guys!

Lately, I've been getting more serious about the job hunt! I'm trying to find an internship or opportunities in learning and development, instructional design, and human resources. What I've learned, is that there are so many sites and resources you could use to find jobs. I normally type in what I'm looking for on Google and look through those listings, but there's also job listings on LinkedIn, Indeed, ZipRecruiter, and so many more! There's even Glassdoor that reports reviews, salaries, etc. of jobs and organizations from past employees. I've been using lots of these resources to find jobs I could apply to. I have an interview coming up soon, so wish me luck! I get SO nervous during interviews though, and I always mix up my words and feel like I sound like I have no idea what I'm talking about. Hopefully, my word jumble will improve with practice!

Are there any other resources I should know about for the job hunt? Any resources for interview practice (I could DEFINETLY use that)?

  1. Hi Lydia! There are a lot of online resources available online to help with the job search! Before you interview, write out the most popular questions asked and your answer. That way you have an idea of what to say and to help you stay on track during the interview. You can find a list of the most commonly asked interview questions online! Good luck! ^_^

  2. Congrats on the interview! I'll need to check back and see if you have any updates but I'm wishing you tons of luck and good fortune. The job market and the interview process can both be disheartening. I've been ghosted by so many recruiters and companies and ran into some brick walls while trying to break into the industry. Some tips:

    1. Keep your LinkedIn and resume updated.
    2. Try to use industry-specific terminology in your LinkedIn and resume. It isn't uncommon for recruiters and/or recruitment software to basically do a keyword search for specific phrases or terms when determining if a candidate qualifies for a role.
    3. Create different versions of your resume and edit them to properly demonstrate how your skills fit the role you applied to. You said that you're looking for work across three different fields and while some skills may overlap you would benefit from having resumes that promote specific skills that more applicable to each field.
    4. Interview prep: Take the job posting and create an AI prompt where you can do a mock interview with the AI. One that I used in the past was, "Use the following job description to create sample interview questions that I might encounter during my next interview. I'll reply and I want you to evaluate my responses and gauge them using the STAR method. Offer me feedback on how I might improve."
