Symbaloo

This week, another tool I explored was Symbaloo. Before looking at the tools page, I had never heard of Symbaloo before. It is a essentially a website that allows you to create a homepage with widgets to any websites you want!

The process of creating my webpage was super smooth. Making the account was easy, and then they give you the option to start with a premade homepage, or creating your own. I decided to make my own and customize it to things that I like and enjoy. I did scroll through their recommended widgets to add, and I did add a couple like Cool Math Games and BrainPop (purely for nostalgia and how much I miss playing games on there). I also added websites that I use often for school like Google Docs, my Feedly, and Canva. To round it out, I also added sites I use for fun like TikTok and Airbnb (who doesn't like to scroll through Airbnb and plan fake vacations??) I was even able to customize the sizes of each widget and my background to make it even more me! Sadly, the cute dogs are covered up, but it's the thought that counts. I think Symbaloo will be a great addition and be helpful in pulling up sites I use often.

  1. This is an interesting tool. I can see how it would help group similar tools and apps into a single collection. I must admit that it looks a little dated. Visually, it reminds me of similar aggregator tools that I fiddled around with back in 2010. Not a bad thing, mind you. The education area was fascinating and, instructional uses aside, I actually stumbled upon a fun time-killer that I used to play with WAYYYY back in the day. https://www.incredibox.com/

  2. Wow! This is pretty cool. It reminds me of the widget settings on iPhones. BrainPop was my favorite learning tool as a kid. There were so many videos that I enjoyed. Seeing it on your Symbaloo layout made me think about if it is still used as often.
