Discord
Discord is a tool that I've only used a couple times, but seems really popular, especially in the gaming community (or at least from what I'm told). In a more social sense, Discord allows you to connect with friends and discuss via video calls or in chats. It even allows for communities to develop. While doing my research for our previous assignment, I even found a Taylor Swift Discord community. I didn't join it, but I imagine it was a nice place to be able to share anecdotes or pictures of Taylor Swift.
In education, I feel like it'd be a great tool that could be used! From my knowledge, it does similar things to other tools like Zoom, but allows for different servers and channels that can be used while not on a meeting as well. I think it'd be nice to have a class set up in a way where there's a formal class chat, one where students can ask questions, and one where students are able to collaborate with each other. Having all of these different set ups on one application would be super easy to use.
I'm super excited to start using the class Discord. I think it'd be great to have a space where we could all talk and discuss more casually and often than just on Instagram, or commenting on each others blog posts. I think it'd be a great way to get to know you guys better!
